The work featured a new central sterile services department (CSSD), enhancement of the existing day surgery unit (DSU) and the introduction of new operating theatres and recovery bays.

The fire safety design of the new tower included a feature fire egress stair design that incorporated glazed elements and structural fire engineering analysis to permit the retention of existing structural elements. Stakeholder engagement was paramount throughout the process to ensure that the needs of each building owner were met and that hospital could remain live for patients and community services throughout the project.
